Na Su Village

Na Su village is located in Muong Cha commune, 120km from the center of Dien Bien Phu ward, on Route 4H leading to A Pa Chai, the westernmost point of Vietnam.

Na Su means "purchased rice field" in the Thai language. Previously, Na Su was called "Na Pien" or "Na Kheo Pieng" because this rice field was first cleared and cultivated by the Khmu people who settled here. At that time, the Khmu people had a custom of filing their teeth to make them even, so "Na Pieng" or "Na Kheo Pieng" was understood as "the field of people with even teeth" (in Thai, "Na" means field, "Kheo" means tooth, and "Pieng" means even). After they left, the Thai people bought the field and called it "Na Su" or "Na Su". The village has rich forest resources and diverse vegetation. There are natural forests interspersed with man-made forests, mainly acacia and bamboo. In addition, Na Su village also has mineral resources, such as common building stone. The Thai people in Na Su village have distinctive cultural features of the Northwest region, such as stilt houses and customs; currently, there are 5 households in the village offering homestay accommodation. Local people love singing and traditional dances such as bamboo dance, xoe dance, scarf dance, etc.

Visiting the culture and people of Na Su, tourists can immerse themselves in experiential activities such as: Exploring the beautiful and attractive natural landscape of Na Su village with the Nam Bai stream, Nam Ngen stream, plum orchards, crescent-shaped rice fields; exploring and checking in on the Hoa Ban flower road every March; learning about the culture and customs of the Thai people with lively folk songs, folk dances, and folk music; participating in activities such as plowing fields, raising livestock and poultry; building fish ponds in the stream; weaving; basket weaving, etc. Participate in traditional Thai folk games such as: throwing the ball, tó má lẹ, tó sáng (spinning top)... Enjoy traditional dishes such as: grilled fish, steamed fish, bon soup, grilled chicken...
